President
Ramos yesterday ordered Defense Secretary Renato de Villa
in coordination with an inter-agency task force to fully implement
the National Service Act by school year 1993.
Under
the NSA, those covered by will be provided with two additional
options apart from the military service requirement.
These
options are community development work, and public safety
law enforcement activities.
The
President directed the interagency committee composed of the
DND and the Department of Education Culture and Sports to
closely coordinate for the full implementation of the NSA.
The
President said the full implementation of the NSA would enhance
the students' awareness in undertaking fruitful activities.
The
chief executive also said the NSA would improve the peace
and order situation in the country since cadets of the Citizen
Military Training (CMT) would now be involved in public safety
and law enforcement activities.
