National service programs are a global phenomenon. Contrary to the claims of vocal opponents to compulsory service, nations that recognize civic duty -- through one form of mandatory service or another -- span the political, economic, and cultural spectrum. This section seeks to bring this fact to light; in the hope that students undergoing Philippine NSTP gain a much better perspective of the magnitude of the 'burden' that they bear.
