lauds PAF achievements, orders acquisition of 20 more
helicopters

President
Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo today directed the Philippine
Air Force (PAF) to acquire 20 additional helicopters
to augment its existing inventory and strengthen its
mission of safeguarding and shielding the nation.
During
the 56th anniversary of the PAF at the Villamor Airbase
in Pasay City, the President acknowledged the Air
Forces various achievements as she tasked the
modernization board to expedite the bidding for the
20 helicopters within one month.

the affair, the President and Santillan also awarded
medals and awards to several enlisted and civilian
personnel of the PAF.
The
Gold Cross medal went to 1Lt. Joycelyn Patrimonio
and Lt. Col. Romeo Poquiz, Gawad sa Kaunlaran Award
to Maj. Dominador Lim Jr., Distinguished Aviation
Cross Medal to 1st Lt. James Acosta, Bronze Cross
Medal to S/Sgt. Bobby Bonoan, PAF Enlisted Man of
the Year to S/Sgt. Joel Baldonado, Model Civilian
Supervisor of the Year to Romulo Gonzales of the 410th
Maintenance Wing, Model Civilian Employee of the Year
to Mrs. Teresita Arinsol of the 420th Supply Wing,
PAF Reservist Officer of the Year to Lt. Col. Jamelah
Emma Abanes, PAF Reservist Enlisted Personnel of the
Year to M/Sgt. Godofredo Senires III, ROTC Cadet of
the Year to Cadet Capt. Samuel Rubias of the John
Paul College in Roxas, Oriental Mindoro, and the ROTC
Cadette of the Year went to Cadette Lt. Col. Ma. Elynita
Velano of the Central Visayas Polytechnic College
in Dumaguete City.
