THE
Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) unit of the
Holy Name University (HNU) is Bohol's best this school
year.
HNU
bested the Central Visayas State College of Agriculture,
Forestry and Technology (CVSCAFT) main campus in Bilar
and the University of Bohol (UB) during the Regional
Annual Administrative and Performance Evaluation (Raape)
conducted by the Regional Monitoring and Evaluation
Team (RMET) on Jan. 15 and 16.
The
Raape aims to determine the degree of administrative
efficiency, training management proficiency, quality
of training and knowledge acquired by the cadets.
Col.
Ceferino Layao, group commander of the 7th Regional
Community Defense Group of the Army Reserve Command
(Arescom) chaired the RMET, with Major Soliver Peras
(JAGS), a Cebu-based Regional Trial Court (RTC) judge
as vice-chair and seven military personnel as members,
namely-SMS Edgardo Pito, MSgt Rolito Ursal, MSgt Rogelio
Aday, MSgt Nicodemus Cinches who is from Mayacabac,
Dauis town, MSgt Hermanico Rio, MSgt Dario Cezar and
Sgt Arnel Mejia of San Vicente, Baclayon.
The
win earned HNU the right to represent the province
again in the regional competition. To note, HNU is
the unit to beat in the national level, having bested
even the National Capital Region's "standard"
schools last school year.
The
presence and message of HNU president Fr. Florante
Camacho, SVD at the inspection at Camp Gov. Bernido
in Dao District, this city apparently held the morale
of the cadets high. He came with Fr. Romeo Bancale,
SVD and Fr. Eduardo Rocha, SVD, vice presidents for
administration and academic affairs respectively,
and department heads, deans, faculty members, ROTC
sponsors and students who cheered their unit on.
Prof.
Rene Augusto Real represented lawyer David Tirol,
former congressman, former governor and UB president.
With Real was Michelle Real-Trabajo, the unit's matron
of sponsors.
On
the other hand, Dr. Mateo Limbago, state college and
university (SUC) president and other school officials
were on hand to lend moral support to their ROTC unit.
Major
Emmanuel Sison, commander of the 702nd (Bohol) Community
Defense Center (CDC) is the concurrent commandant
of the HNU, UB and CVSCAFT ROTC units.
Also
present during the event were reservists Lt. Col.
Prisco Viñalon Jr., commander of the 1st Bohol
Ready Reserve Battalion, Major Salvador Pizarras (JAGS),
Capt. Jose Bedio, 1Lt Lino Garsuta, 1Lt Ramon Barrete,
2Lt Meinard Butalid, 2Lt Susan Datahan who is also
the HNU ROTC unit instructor, lawyer/MSgt Florendo
Columnas, MSgt Wilfredo Lim, SSgt Alenio Toleran.
