SLU Tops the ROTC Summer Cadre Training 2000

From the Saint Louis Chronicle, September 2000 edition (http://www.slu.edu.ph/Publications/Chronicle/pdf/sep2000.pdf)

The Air Reserve Center of the Philippine Air Force conducted an annual 2-month Advance Course Training for ROTC Cadet and Cadette Officers nationwide, which started from April 1 to May 30, 2000 at Air Force City in Clarkfield, Pampanga. In connection with this, the SLU-PAF ROTC Unit sent 12 ROTC officers as delegates on the said training namely: CDT 2C1 Ruel Alangui, CDTTE 2C1 Madily Tico, CDT 3C1 Arnold Ablasa, CDT 3C1 John Bayao, CDTTE 3C1 Ericson Tafaleng and CDT 3C1 Roy Yapyapen.

The training that lasted for two months includes several field exercises as well as classroom instructions which is then culminated the Field Training Exercises (FTX) in the mountains. It is another distinction for the SLU-PAF ROTC Unit to have our delegates emerge as the top graduates wherein CDT 3C1 Juner Gumad-ang was the recipient of the Distinguished Graduate Award for garnering the highest overall rating of 90.08% during the whole duration of the training. CDT 3C1 Roy Yapyapen also received an award for being the second overall graduate in terms of academics. Moreover, CDT 2C1 Ruel Alangui was a recipient of another ward for excelling in the 14 kilometer Cross-Country Marathon Run.

It is also note taking that most of the officers sent were among the top ten graduate which is a record still held by the University ever since the training started years ago. These achievements only show the high standard training employed by the SLU-PAF ROTC Unit.
