Vanguard a homecoming

The
University of the Philippines Vanguard, Inc., the
alumni association of ROTC officers of the State University,
is holding a grand nostalgic fashion show entitled
Fashion in Review on Friday, March 21,
at The Manila Polo Club.
The
reunion-show, which will bring together luminaries
in government, military business and media, is directed
by renowned megman Fritz Ynfante. Uniforms donned
by UP ROTC cadet officers and sponsors from the 1930s
up to the present will be recreated by Bb. Pilipinas
Universe beauty and former UP ROTC sponsor Vida Doria.
Emcees
are UP Vanguard member, businessman Ted Javier and
former DOTC Secretary Josefina Trinidad Lichauco,
former ROTC sponsor, who will also model.
Walking
on the fashion ramp will be other former UP ROTC sponsors,
including Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, veteran
actress Boots Anson-Roa, former Quezon City Vice Mayor
Connie Angeles, beauty queen-turned-activist Nelia
Sancho, Philippine Star lifestyle editor Millet Martinez-Mananquil,
TV host Chichi Fajardo-Robles, and former Presidential
Management Staff Lenny Vasquez-De Jesus.
They
will be joined by other women civic and business leaders
who were once UP ROTC sponsors, including Ayala executive
Marivic Añonuevo, businesswoman Rebecca Ventura
Trinidad and Eloisa Altes Romero.
The
UP ROTC male uniforms will be modeled by former cadet
officers, including Cagayan Governor Ed Lara, former
Philippine Army Chief Jaime De los Santos, former
DENR Secretary Heherson Sonny Alvarez,
former Agrarian Reform Secretary Horacio Boy
Morales, former Southern Philippines Command Chief
Joe Magno, retired General Bienvenido Castro, DND
Spokesman Executive Officer National Disaster Coordinating
Council and Administration of Civil Defense General
Mel Rosales, lawyer Sigfried Fortun, stockmarket spokesman
Astro Del Castillo, Local Governments Undersecretary
Ed Soliman, businessman Sonny Ventura and Ayala executive
Mark Javier.
The
fashions and passions of each decade, from the 1930s
to the new millennium, will be depicted on the ramp.
Unforgettable events, trends and personalities of
each decade will be recreated on stage.
UP
Vanguard, Inc. chairman Edwin Fernandez said the show
is being presented to raise funds for UP Vanguards
various projects benefiting UP students. The show
will be followed by dancing, with the 1960s hit band
Moonstrucks providing the ballroom dance music.
